Singapore National Childhood Immunisation Programme (NCIP)

Singapore's NCIP covers 10 diseases and is one of the most comprehensive childhood vaccination programmes in the world. Under the Mandatory Immunisation Act, diphtheria and measles vaccinations are compulsory for all children in Singapore. Most NCIP vaccines are free for Singapore Citizens and heavily subsidised for PRs at polyclinics and CHAS GP clinics. Use the Immunization Tracker to log completed jabs and get reminders.

Optional But Recommended Vaccines

Rotavirus vaccine from 6 weeks–8 months

Protects against severe gastroenteritis (stomach flu). Given as 2 or 3 oral doses before 8 months. Particularly valuable in a tropical climate where rotavirus spreads easily.

Influenza (flu) vaccine from 6 months and above, annually

Annual vaccination recommended for children 6 months and above, especially those in childcare. Reduces hospitalisations significantly in under-5s.

Hepatitis A vaccine from 12 months (2 doses, 6 months apart)

Two doses protect against Hepatitis A. Recommended for children who travel internationally or are in high-risk environments.

Meningococcal (MenACWY) from From 2 months (schedule varies)

Protects against meningococcal disease, which can cause meningitis and blood poisoning. Particularly recommended before travel to high-risk regions.

Practical Vaccination Tips for Singapore Parents

Book jabs via the HealthHub app (iOS/Android) for polyclinic appointments. You can view your child's vaccination history and upcoming schedule digitally.
Bring your child's Health Booklet (red book) to every appointment. All vaccines are recorded in it.
Most combination vaccines cause mild fever and soreness for 24–48 hours. Paracetamol (dosed by weight using the Infant Medication Dosage Calculator) is appropriate.
For Singapore Citizens, NCIP vaccines are fully subsidised at polyclinics and CHAS clinics. Private GP rates are typically S$80–200 per visit.
If your child missed a scheduled vaccine, they do not need to restart the series. Continue from where they left off. Speak with your paediatrician.
