G Gross Motor
- Lifts head briefly in tummy time
- Holds head for a few seconds when supported upright
- Arm and leg movements becoming less jerky
F Fine Motor
- Hands still mostly fisted
- Will briefly hold an object placed in hand
- Startles (Moro) reflex still present
L Language & Communication
- Coos and makes small vowel sounds
- Cries are becoming more varied
- Quiets to your voice across the room
S Social & Emotional
- Social smiling beginning (usually by 6 weeks)
- Tracks a moving face with eyes for a few seconds
- Responds with excitement to familiar voices

Play & Activity Ideas
- Increase tummy time: 5 minutes × 3 times daily
- Hold baby face-to-face and make slow expressions
- Sing nursery rhymes - Babies prefer song over speech
- Use a baby carrier for calming and bonding
When to Consult Your Paediatrician
If your baby is NOT doing any of the following, speak to your doctor - Early intervention is key:
- Not fixing and following a face by 4 weeks
- Rarely cries or is very difficult to wake for feeds
- Not gaining weight adequately
Singapore-Specific Advice
Your 1-month polyclinic visit includes full physical examination, weight and length measurement, and developmental screening. Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) screening is done here. Baby bonus (CDA) should now be set up if not done.
Vaccinations This Month
- 1 month: Hepatitis B (2nd dose)
