Development Milestones
G Gross Motor
- Walks with one hand held (cruising then walking)
- Stands alone for several seconds
- Bends down to pick up objects from floor while standing
F Fine Motor
- Stacks 2–3 blocks
- Puts objects in and takes out with precision
- Turns pages of board books (sometimes 2–3 at once)
L Language & Communication
- Says 2–3 meaningful words
- Points to familiar objects when named
- Follows 2-step simple commands
S Social & Emotional
- Imitates household activities (pretend to phone, sweep)
- Waves, claps, points
- Strong attachment to comfort objects (blankie, soft toy)

Starting Solids - Month 11
Full family meals. Offer the same food as the family with less salt and no spicy. Begin practising with a spoon independently (messy but developmental!). Aim for variety across all food groups.
Play & Activity Ideas
- Painting with fingers (washable, non-toxic paint)
- Cause-and-effect toys: push buttons, pop-ups
- Read and point to pictures - "Where is the dog?"
- Sand and water play if possible
When to Consult Your Paediatrician
If your baby is NOT doing any of the following, speak to your doctor - Early intervention is key:
- Not standing while holding on to something
- Not using any words
- Not searching for hidden objects
- Not pointing to things
Singapore-Specific Advice
Start thinking about the transition to toddler-appropriate milk or whole cow's milk after 12 months (consult your paediatrician). In Singapore, most parents continue breastfeeding past 12 months alongside family foods, which is recommended by WHO to 2 years.
