- Waves, claps, plays pat-a-cake
- Symbolic play beginning - Pretends to feed a doll

Times are approximate guides only. Follow your baby's hunger and sleepy cues.
Starting Solids - Month 12
Full family meals. Three meals + two snacks daily. Offer whole cow's milk (1–2 cups/day) from 12 months. No honey, no whole nuts. Iron-rich foods are critical - Haem iron from meat/fish or non-haem iron with vitamin C.
Play & Activity Ideas
- Push toys and ride-on vehicles
- Crayon scribbling and finger painting
- Water play - Cups, funnels, squirt toys in the bath
- Playdate at void deck or playground sandbox
When to Consult Your Paediatrician
If your baby is NOT doing any of the following, speak to your doctor - Early intervention is key:
- Not standing
- Not using any words or gestures
- Not imitating actions or words
- Not pointing to things they want
Singapore-Specific Advice
12-month polyclinic visit: full developmental assessment, weight and height, MMR and varicella vaccinations. After 12 months, transition from formula or breastmilk to whole cow's milk or continue breastfeeding. No honey, whole nuts, or high-choking-risk foods. Your toddler journey begins!
