1. Who We Are

HeyBaby.sg is Singapore's dedicated pregnancy and parenting information platform. We were built specifically for the Singapore parenting journey — from trying to conceive, through pregnancy, to raising your child through infancy and beyond.

We are not a general health website that has added a "pregnancy" section. Every article, tool, and guide on this site is written specifically for parents and parents-to-be navigating the Singapore healthcare system, public policies, and cultural context.

Our team combines editorial expertise in health communication with clinical oversight from Singapore-based medical professionals, ensuring that what you read here reflects both best evidence and local relevance.

2. Our Writers and Contributors

We have high standards for who writes on HeyBaby.sg. Every contributing writer is assessed against the following criteria before being commissioned:

Health & Medical Writers

  • • Degree in nursing, midwifery, nutrition, medicine, or allied health
  • • Minimum 2 years clinical or health communication experience
  • • Demonstrated ability to translate clinical language for lay audiences
  • • No undisclosed conflicts of interest

Parenting & Lifestyle Writers

  • • Experienced parents with direct lived experience of the topic
  • • Background in journalism, communications, or education
  • • Familiar with Singapore's healthcare, policy, and cultural context
  • • Willingness to disclose personal experience and perspective

All writers are required to disclose any real or potential conflicts of interest — including relationships with brands, clinics, or products they may reference. We do not allow undisclosed promotional content under any circumstances.

Writer bios and credentials are displayed on every article page so you can assess the source directly.

3. Our Medical Review Process

HeyBaby.sg takes medical accuracy seriously. Any article that contains clinical guidance, health recommendations, diagnostic information, or treatment options undergoes a formal medical review process before publication.

1

Content Drafted by Qualified Writer

The writer researches the topic using peer-reviewed sources, Singapore MOH guidelines, and internationally recognised clinical bodies (WHO, AAP, RCOG, NICE). A full source list is compiled before review.

2

Editorial Review

Our editorial team checks for accuracy of claims, logical consistency, appropriate caveats, and readability. Claims that lack strong evidence are either removed or clearly labelled as emerging or preliminary.

3

Source Verification

Every factual claim is cross-referenced against the cited source before publication. Claims not supported by a cited source are removed. The final source list is checked for quality (peer-reviewed, government, or major clinical body) and appended to the article.

4

Publication with Full Transparency

The article is published with the writer's name, reviewer's name and credentials, publication date, last review date, and full source list. Nothing is published anonymously.

Important: Our editorial process verifies accuracy against cited sources and current guidelines. It does not constitute personalised medical advice. Always consult your own doctor, obstetrician, or specialist for decisions about your specific health situation.

4. Our Source Standards

We only cite sources that meet our quality threshold. Our editorial team is trained to assess source quality, and writers are required to use the following hierarchy:

A
Preferred sources

Peer-reviewed journals (PubMed, Cochrane, The Lancet, NEJM, BMJ); Singapore Ministry of Health clinical guidelines; WHO and UNICEF guidance; guidelines from AAP, RCOG, ACOG, NICE, and equivalent bodies; KKH, NUH, SGH, and MOH Singapore patient resources.

B
Acceptable supporting sources

Reputable national health organisations (e.g., NHS, CDC, Mayo Clinic, HealthHub Singapore); government demographic data (DOS Singapore, MOH health statistics); expert consensus statements from major medical associations.

Not accepted as sources

Social media posts, personal blogs, forums, manufacturer-funded studies without independent corroboration, unverified press releases, Wikipedia, or any source with an undisclosed commercial interest in the topic.

Where research is limited or results are mixed, we say so clearly. We do not present emerging or preliminary findings as established fact.

5. Our Singapore-First Approach

HeyBaby.sg was built for the Singapore parenting experience — not adapted from a generic international template. This shapes our editorial approach in specific ways:

  • All clinical recommendations are cross-referenced with MOH Singapore guidelines and, where relevant, with guidance from KKH Women's and Children's Hospital, NUH, and SGH — Singapore's major public hospitals serving expectant and new parents.
  • Policy and financial information (MediShield Life, Baby Bonus, childcare subsidies, maternity leave entitlements) is sourced directly from the relevant Singapore government agencies and verified at the time of writing.
  • Local nuance is respected. We acknowledge Singapore's multicultural population in topics that touch on dietary practices, cultural traditions, and community-specific health considerations.
  • Emergency and crisis information references Singapore services — 995 for emergencies, KKH's 24-hour Women's and Children's Emergency, and HealthHub's symptom checker.

When international research is used, our editors assess its applicability to a Singapore population and note any relevant caveats.

6. How We Keep Content Current

Medical knowledge evolves. Guidelines change. We take our obligation to accuracy seriously, which means we treat publication as the beginning of a content lifecycle, not the end.

  • Scheduled reviews: All health and pregnancy articles are reviewed on an 18-month cycle at minimum.
  • Event-triggered reviews: When MOH Singapore or a major international clinical body updates a guideline relevant to our content, we update affected articles promptly — typically within 4 weeks of the guideline publication.
  • Reader-triggered reviews: If a reader flags a potential inaccuracy via our corrections process, we investigate immediately.
  • Date transparency: Every article displays its original publication date and the date it was last reviewed or updated. If an article has not been recently updated, you will see the original publication date prominently displayed — we do not hide content age.

7. Corrections Policy

We aim to get it right the first time. When we don't, we fix it transparently and promptly.

  • Corrections are published at the top of the relevant article with a clear label (e.g., "Correction — [date]: An earlier version of this article stated X. This has been corrected to Y.").
  • We do not silently edit articles to remove errors without acknowledgement if the incorrect information was publicly visible for any meaningful period.
  • Corrections that affect safety-critical information are treated as urgent and addressed within 24 hours of verification.
  • Non-material updates (style, readability, broken links) are made without a formal correction notice.

To report a potential error, contact us with the article URL, the specific claim you believe is incorrect, and any supporting sources you can provide. We review every report.

8. Editorial Independence

Our editorial content is produced independently of our commercial operations. Specifically:

  • Advertising does not influence editorial. Brands cannot pay to be featured in, or removed from, editorial content. No commercial relationship grants any influence over article content, tone, or conclusions.
  • Sponsored and advertorial content is clearly labelled. Any content produced in partnership with a brand is marked "Sponsored" or "In partnership with [Brand]" at the top of the page. It does not carry our editorial endorsement.
  • Affiliate relationships are disclosed. Where we link to products or services and may receive a commission, this is disclosed in the article. Affiliate relationships do not determine which products we recommend — recommendations are based on editorial merit first.
  • Our medical reviewers are compensated for their time at a flat rate that is independent of editorial outcome. Reviewers are not paid more for approving or rejecting content, and they cannot be overruled by commercial teams.
  • The editorial team has final authority on all published content. No commercial team member, advertiser, or sponsor has editorial sign-off rights.

9. Our Policy on AI-Generated Content

We are transparent about how artificial intelligence tools are and are not used in our content production.

  • AI does not write our articles. All published articles are written by human writers with relevant expertise and personal or professional experience of the subject matter.
  • AI may be used as a research and drafting aid. Writers may use AI tools to help identify gaps in an outline, suggest related questions to address, or check structural consistency. Any AI-assisted drafting is fully reviewed and rewritten by the human author.
  • AI is never used to generate medical claims or clinical recommendations. All health-specific content is grounded in the sources listed in our source standards section and verified by a human medical reviewer.
  • AI-generated content is never published without full human review and editorial sign-off.

We will update this policy as AI tools and best practices evolve. Our commitment is to transparency with our readers at all times.

10. Medical Disclaimer

Despite our rigorous editorial and medical review process, content on HeyBaby.sg is intended for general educational and informational purposes only. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

Every pregnancy and parenting journey is different. Information that applies to a general population may not apply to your individual circumstances. Always consult your obstetrician, paediatrician, midwife, general practitioner, or other qualified healthcare provider for advice specific to your situation.

If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 995 immediately. For non-emergency concerns, KKH's 24-hour Women's and Children's Emergency Department can be reached at +65 6225 5554.
