G Gross Motor

  • Strong grasp reflex - Fingers curl on touch
  • Rooting reflex: turns head toward cheek touch

  • Grasps finger when placed in palm

Play & Activity Ideas

  • Skin-to-skin (kangaroo care) - Regulates temperature and bonding
  • Tummy time 2–3 minutes × 2–3 times/day on a firm surface
  • Talk and sing during every feed and nappy change
  • Black and white high-contrast cards within 30cm distance

When to Consult Your Paediatrician

If your baby is NOT doing any of the following, speak to your doctor - Early intervention is key:

  • Not reacting to loud noises
  • Not blinking at bright light
  • No feeding after first 24 hours
  • Persistent yellow skin beyond day 3 without treatment
  • Not regaining birth weight by 2 weeks

Singapore-Specific Advice

Most Singapore hospitals offer lactation consultants - Request one before discharge from KKH, SGH, or your private hospital. Polyclinic first visit is at 1 week for weight check and jaundice screening. Register your baby's birth within 42 days at ICA.

Vaccinations This Month

  • At birth: BCG (tuberculosis) · Hepatitis B (1st dose)
