Enrichment classes for 2-3 year olds worth the money?

I'm being pulled in every direction — music, art, gym, Mandarin, swimming. Some friends spend $800+ a month on classes for a 2 year old. I keep wondering if it's necessary or if free play does just as much. What have your kids benefited most from at this age?
