Gestational diabetes diagnosed — what changes did you make?

Just got diagnosed with GD at 28 weeks. My gynae at Thomson Medical referred me to a dietitian but the earliest slot is 2 weeks away. In the meantime I'm quite lost about what I can and cannot eat. Anyone else had GD in Singapore? How did you manage your diet? Did your baby need any special monitoring at birth? Any recommended dietitians who specialise in pregnancy nutrition would be helpful too.
