Postpartum depression — how I finally asked for help

At 6 weeks postpartum I couldn't stop crying. Not happy tears. I felt like my baby deserved a better mother than me. I finally told my gynae at the 6-week checkup and she referred me to a psychiatrist the same day. I was on medication within a week and it genuinely saved my motherhood. Please tell your doctor if you feel this way.

Thank you for being brave enough to share this. I went through the same thing at week 8. The medication took 3 weeks to kick in but when it did I felt like myself again. You are not alone.

This needs more visibility. So many mums suffer in silence because of the stigma. Well done for getting help and for posting this.
